Tyne Angling Passport

The Trust aims to increase access to affordable fishing , gather information on fish populations and improve habitat throughout the Tyne catchment. Beat and population information will be used to assist in identifying areas where habitat or other improvements could be beneficial. The Tyne Angling Passport Scheme [TAP] is growing steadily with 27 beats available offering game or coarse angling. The beats range from wild upland waters, the River Rede, North and South Tynes , the Main Tyne and the productive River Derwent. Three unstocked reservoirs, Selset, Balderhead and Cow Green, will be available at a small discount to the scheme in 2010. Wild brown trout fishing in wild settings!

Species sought elsewhere are, salmon , sea trout, brown trout and grayling. Coarse fish are available on 4 winter beats. Whilst the emphasis in on wild fish, some brown trout are stocked in the River Derwent. New beats are joining the scheme and will be available in 2010.

To keep up with the new beats visit the TRT and Fish Tyne web sites.. The scheme is affordable, with a days fishing currently costing from £5.00 to £7.50. Anglers wishing to participate in the scheme will soon be able to purchase the tickets from a range of outlets including:
